Ambassadors start promoting Gosport – sign up today

Gosport has assembled a team of ambassadors to spread the word about the borough being a great place to visit, enjoy, invest and do business.

So far 160 ambassadors have joined the team as part of the regeneration push led by the council.

Launched in October 2020, Gosport Ambassadors unites businesses, organisations and individuals who are passionate about promoting change and building positive perceptions of Gosport. Using their networks both socially and at work, they get special briefings about local initiatives and make use of Gosport’s Story – a new toolkit of themes, photos and graphics that can be used to represent the area in a fresh way.

At the latest meeting, the team heard from Sharon Summerfield, place brand manager for Harlow, Essex, about how over 400 ambassadors are helping to shape the future of her town.

Debbie Gore, head of planning and regeneration at Gosport Borough Council, said: “We have so much potential in the area and there are exciting development plans which will make the most of our heritage and waterfront location. Through the ambassador programme we are working directly with the people and organisations that can help realise the ambitions of Gosport.”

Council Leader Cllr Mark Hook said: “Gosport Ambassadors is a fantastic opportunity for business and community representatives to get involved in the promotion of Gosport. It shows how, as a united force, we can tell our story together.”

Ambassadors are kept informed about borough wide developments through meetings which take place every two months, online at present.

Anyone interested in becoming an ambassador can email or call the council’s economic development team on 023 9254 5425.
