A partnership of organisations from across Gosport – Gosport Cultural Consortium (GCC) – have been awarded a £100,000 thanks to funding from Historic England, HM Government, Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
As part of Gosport’s High Streets Heritage Action Zone, the GCC will create and deliver a three year, community-led cultural programme on the high street.
The programme will use arts, heritage and culture to create earning and employment opportunities for local residents. GCC will make it more viable to have a creative career in Gosport, through training and support for new creative businesses and those who are under or unemployed. GCC aims to stimulate broader engagement in the sector, creating participation and volunteering opportunities as well as ongoing self-funding roles.
GCC will support the delivery of the HSHAZ programme, and work closely with the community through creating diverse panels to guide the programme ensuring those who are those already active in the arts and culture are represented, as well as those who have previously been disengaged.
Led by Hampshire Cultural Trust, the Gosport Cultural Consortium (GCC) consists of representatives from Bridgemary School, Gosport Heritage Open Days, Gosport Discovery Centre, Gosport Voluntary Action, Gosport U3A, Motiv8, Gosport Tourist Information Centre and the Gosport Diving Museum.
