Gosport Borough Council has designated the Alver Valley as a Country Park and is taking every opportunity to secure additional funding, on top of capital funding, to add to the offer of an exceptional ‘green lung’ in the borough.
The Alver Valley is a landscape dominated by the medieval water meadows running north-south, and with the Motte and Bailey, medieval Grange Farm, evidence for numerous Neolithic finds, a long barrow, pill boxes and ancient woodland – the HAZ presents the perfect opportunity to highlight the significant heritage interest of the area.
