Hampshire Cultural Trust are leading on the £1.5m redevelopment of the Old Grammar School which currently houses Gosport Gallery, the Play Gallery and hands-on education centre, SEARCH.
Creating a new arts venue at the centre of Gosport’s HSHAZ, the redevelopment of this Grade II listed building will provide an inspiring multi-purpose destination for Gosport residents and visitors. It will transform into a vibrant community hub with a new museum, studio and workshop spaces, a café, craft shop and education programme.
The building will close its doors to the public on Tuesday 31 August for redevelopment work to begin and will re-open to the public in May 2022 under the brand new name – Gosport Museum and Art Gallery.
Where are we now?
Planning permission and listed building consent for the redevelopment work were approved in July 2021. Check out the latest press release announcing the new name and additional funding from Arts Council England.
